PTFE is the 'ultimate' regular fiber as it has outstanding chemical and thermal resistance, with the right chemistry, it will operate up to
250°C.
Two forms of the fiber are used in filtration applications:
Brown - which is very much like a traditional textile fiber in appearance was the original PTFE fiber sold as Teflon.
White - which is actually ribbon like in nature is rapidly supplanting brown due to its collection efficiency and greater cost effectiveness.
ACIDS - EXCELLENT
ALKALIS – EXCELLENT
OXIDISING AGENTS - EXCELLENT
HYDROLYSIS - EXCELLENT
SOLVENTS – EXCELLENT
Sensitive to Alkali metals – Excellent in all key properties – uses are specialized but include power generation, incineration and in harsh chemical environments.
Maximum Continuous in Dry Conditions: 260°C / 500°F
Maximum Surge in Dry Conditions: 280°C / 536°F
